Doug Salisbury focuses his practice on labor and employment and complex commercial litigation. Doug has handled numerous labor and employment cases involving trade secrets, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, and wrongful termination issues, and also handled commercial litigation cases involving breaches of contracts and other commercial duties and expectations, including breaches of joint operating agreements and purchase and sale agreements. He has also handled eminent domain litigation, fraudulent transfer litigation, cases involving the liability of professionals for their failure to properly provide requested services, and claims brought under the False Claims Act. He has also been heavily involved with the inverse condemnation proceedings brought against the United States government following the Army Corps of Engineers' release of water from the Addicks and Barker Reservoirs during and after Hurricane Harvey.
When Doug first obtained his license to practice law, he volunteered as a guest prosecutor for the City of Arlington in addition to his commercial law practice. In total, Doug has tried over 15 cases to verdict, ranging from municipal ordinance violations brought by the City of Arlington to cases involving tens of millions of dollars of damages brought by his commercial clients. He has successfully resolved cases at every level of litigation - pre-suit, during litigation, and at trial - and has done so before state and federal courts and arbitration tribunals.
Doug has worked at prominent Texas law firms in both Dallas and Houston. He has represented clients in a variety of contract industries, including clients involved in the real estate, medical, and energy sectors.
Doug is a 2012 graduate of Duke University School of Law. While at Duke, he focused his studies on courses that would hone his litigation skills. He was an Executive Editor of the Alaska Law Review and was also a member of the Mock Trial Board. During his first year of law school, he and a team of classmates advanced to the finals of a school-wide mock trial competition, ultimately trying a case before the School's dean, a former chief judge of the Eastern District of California.
